Eligible Country
The New Zealand eTA application is quick and easy to complete. Filling out the online form only takes a few minutes and you don't need to go to the embassy or consulate.
To successfully submit the New Zealand eTA application form, applicants must hold a valid passport from one of the 60 eligible countries and meet the other basic New Zealand eTA requirements. You will need to pay a small processing fee and New Zealand Tourist Tax using a credit or debit card.
Applications are processed quickly and most are approved within 1 business day, although some cases may take up to 3 business days to process. In rare cases, applications may take longer and additional documents may be required. Approved ETAs are emailed securely to applicants.
All travellers with valid passports require a New Zealand visa.
Are you traveling to New Zealand for any other reason and wondering if you need an NZeTA visa in New Zealand? You are welcome to contact us! We will quickly find out if the visa is suitable for your situation and what the options are.
If you want to use the NZeTA, you must have a passport from a “visa-free country”. These are some of the countries that have agreements with New Zealand allowing NZeTA travel. Do you have a passport from the Netherlands, Belgium, another EU country, Switzerland, or the UK? You can then apply for the NZeTA and use it to travel to New Zealand.
If you hold a passport from one of the visa-waiver countries listed below, you must obtain an NZeTA before you travel to New Zealand for tourism, business, transit or a cruise stopover. Citizens of the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Japan, Hong Kong (SAR PRC), Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea and every European Union member state are all eligible to apply online.
New Zealand and Australian citizens do not need an NZeTA. Travellers who already hold a valid New Zealand visa are also exempt. Everyone else — including nationals of countries that are not on the visa-waiver list — must apply for a standard New Zealand visitor visa instead of an NZeTA.
A New Zealand eTA is valid for up to 2 years or until your passport expires, whichever comes first. During that period you can make multiple visits, each lasting up to 90 days. British citizens are the exception and may stay for up to 6 months per visit. Your passport must remain valid for at least 3 months beyond your planned departure date from New Zealand.
Passport holders from the following visa-waiver countries and territories can apply for the NZeTA online to visit New Zealand. Select your country to read the specific requirements and application steps for your nationality.

Nationals of the countries and territories below need an NZeTA only when they transit through Auckland International Airport on the way to another destination. They cannot use the NZeTA to enter New Zealand as a visitor — a standard visitor visa is required for that.

If your nationality does not appear on either list above, you are not eligible for the NZeTA and will need to apply for a New Zealand visitor visa through Immigration New Zealand before you travel. The visitor visa requires more documentation and a longer processing time than the NZeTA, so it is best to start early.
Yes. Every traveller needs their own NZeTA, regardless of age. A parent or guardian can complete and pay for the applications of accompanying children in a single session, so there is no need to submit each one separately.
